1. Who we are
The website compagniepro.ca (the “Site”) is operated by Droit Légal Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”), whose principal office is located at 1111 Dr. Frederik-Philips Blvd., 6th floor, Saint-Laurent (Quebec).
We provide business incorporation services (provincial and federal), commercial lease drafting and related legal services, in collaboration with professional partners.
This policy is written in accordance with the Quebec Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Privacy Officer
As required by law, we have designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information:
1111 Dr. Frederik-Philips Blvd., 6th floor, Saint-Laurent (Quebec)
Email: info@compagniepro.ca
Phone: 514.316.1910 · Toll-free: 1.888.413.5192
3. Information we collect
a) Information you provide voluntarily
When you fill out a request form (incorporation or commercial lease) or use the Site’s live chat window, we collect:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number (optional);
- the type of corporation or the service you are interested in;
- the content of the message you write, including any information you choose to include about your business project;
- the transcript of the chat conversation, if any.
Important: please do not send sensitive information through the form or the chat (social insurance number, banking details, health information). Where needed, such information will be collected through a secure channel once your file is opened.
b) Information collected automatically
- IP address and connection data (hosting server logs);
- device, browser and operating system type;
- pages viewed, time spent, and the site or ad you came from;
- advertising and audience-measurement cookie identifiers (see section 9).
c) What we do not collect
The Site does not process any online payment and therefore collects no credit card or banking information.
4. Why we collect this information
We use your personal information solely for the following purposes:
- To handle your request: contact you, assess your needs, provide a quote and, where applicable, open and carry out your incorporation or lease file;
- To route you to the right professional, including an external partner (see section 6);
- To communicate with you by email, phone or chat about your request;
- To meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations, including those applicable to members of a professional order;
- To measure and improve the performance of the Site and of our advertising campaigns, in aggregate form or through advertising cookies;
- To prevent fraud and keep the Site secure.
We do not use your information to make any decision based exclusively on automated processing.
5. Consent
By submitting a form or starting a chat conversation on the Site, you consent to our collecting, using and disclosing your personal information for the purposes described in this policy, including the disclosure to our partners described in section 6.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to info@compagniepro.ca. Withdrawal is not retroactive and may prevent us from acting on your request.
6. Disclosure of your request to our partners
Compagniepro.ca operates as a network. Depending on the nature of your request, your region, the language of service and the availability of professionals, your request — including your name, email address, phone number and the description of your project — may be forwarded to one or more partners so they can contact you directly and offer you their services.
Who these partners are
- lawyers and law firms who are members of the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian bar;
- notaries who are members of the Chambre des notaires du Québec;
- chartered professional accountants (CPAs) and tax specialists;
- other professionals or business-services companies whose expertise matches your needs;
- companies affiliated with or related to Droit Légal Inc., in particular Opportunités Par Courriel, which handles the processing and routing of requests.
What this means in practice
- One or more partners may contact you by email or phone following your request.
- We may receive compensation from a partner for forwarding a request. This compensation results in no additional cost to you.
- The partner who receives your request becomes responsible for the personal information it holds about you and for how it uses that information. Its own privacy policy then governs the relationship you establish with it. We encourage you to review it.
- We require our partners to use your request only to offer you the service in question, to protect it appropriately, and to stop contacting you at your request.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information for third-party marketing unrelated to your request. Your information is not added to general commercial mailing lists.
How to opt out
If you would rather your request be handled in-house only, without being forwarded to a partner, say so in the “Message” field of the form or write to info@compagniepro.ca before or immediately after submitting your request. We will honour your choice; depending on what you need, we may then be unable to offer you the service.
Professional secrecy
When you retain a lawyer or a notary — ours or a partner’s — the information you give them in that context is protected by professional secrecy, a protection that is distinct from, and broader than, the one described in this policy. Simply submitting a form on the Site does not in itself create a professional relationship and is not, on its own, covered by professional secrecy.
7. Other disclosures
We may also disclose your personal information:
- to our service providers acting on our behalf (section 8);
- where the law requires it: a court order, a request from a competent authority, or a regulatory or professional obligation;
- to assert our rights or protect the safety of individuals;
- in connection with a business transaction (sale, merger, reorganization), subject to the conditions set out by law.
8. Service providers
We rely on providers who process information on our behalf, under agreements governing their use of it:
| Provider | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosting the Site, connection logs, form handling | United States |
| Twilio SendGrid | Email delivery of the requests received | United States |
| Google (Google Ads) | Conversion measurement and advertising | United States / international |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Conversion measurement and advertising (Meta pixel) | United States / international |
| Tawk.to | Live chat window | United States / international |
9. Cookies and tracking technologies
The Site uses:
- necessary cookies, for the Site to work properly and securely;
- measurement and advertising cookies from Google Ads, which let us know which ads lead to a request and display ads on other sites (remarketing);
- measurement and advertising cookies from Meta (Facebook pixel), which let us know which ads shown on Facebook and Instagram lead to a request and let us build advertising audiences;
- chat cookies set by Tawk.to to keep track of your conversation.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also turn off Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com and opt out of targeted advertising through youradchoices.ca. For Meta ads, you can adjust your preferences in your Facebook account ad settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect how the Site works.
The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
10. Retention and destruction
We keep your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, and then for the period required by law:
- Request with no follow-up: kept for 24 months from the last contact, then destroyed or anonymized.
- Open client file: kept in accordance with the retention obligations applicable to professional files, generally 7 years after the file is closed.
- Technical logs: kept for a short period for security and diagnostic purposes.
At the end of those periods, the information is securely destroyed or anonymized.
11. Security
We put in place security measures that are reasonable and proportionate to the sensitivity of the information: encrypted communications (HTTPS/TLS), access limited to those who need it to do their job, account authentication, and confidentiality agreements with our providers and partners.
No transmission over the Internet or by email is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to acting promptly in the event of an incident.
12. Disclosure outside Quebec
Some of our providers (section 8) are established outside Quebec, primarily in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or processed there and be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including access requests from local authorities.
Before any disclosure outside Quebec, we carry out the privacy impact assessment required by law and satisfy ourselves that the information receives adequate protection, in particular through contractual commitments from our providers.
13. Your rights
Subject to the exceptions provided by law, you have the right:
- to access the personal information we hold about you;
- to have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
- to withdraw your consent to its use or disclosure, including its transmission to partners;
- to obtain your information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability);
- to request that we cease disseminating information or de-index a hyperlink giving access to it, in the cases provided by law;
- to be informed of the reasons and principal factors behind a decision based exclusively on automated processing — a situation that does not currently apply to our activities;
- to unsubscribe from any commercial communication using the unsubscribe link or by writing to us.
To exercise a right, write to the Privacy Officer (section 2). We will need to verify your identity. We respond within 30 days of receiving your request.
If our response does not satisfy you, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
14. Confidentiality incidents
We maintain a register of confidentiality incidents. In the event of an incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will promptly notify the individuals concerned and the Commission d'accès à l'information, as the law requires.
15. Minors
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14 without the consent of the person having parental authority. If you believe such information has been sent to us, write to us and we will delete it.
16. Links to third-party sites
The Site may contain links to sites we do not operate, including those of our partners. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their own policy before sending them any information.
17. Changes
We may amend this policy. The version in force is always the one published on compagniepro.ca, with its update date. If a significant change affects your rights or the disclosure of your information, we will take reasonable steps to inform you.
